There is no substitute to education. Some may claim that faith in God is of paramount importance but this holy tree cannot grow in a barren and desolate land. Faith sprouts only from a cultivated and cultured soul.. “Education makes a people easy to lead, but difficult to drive, easy to govern, but impossible to enslave” There is a Chinese saying, that if you plan for one year, cultivate paddy, if you plan for 10 years, plant trees, if you plan for 100 years then educate. As the literacy rate is one of the indicators of the advancement and development of a country, education has been a priority sector and has made great strides during the past decades of planned development. Educational institutions of various standards both formal and non-formal have been opened/are being opened to spread the education and increase the literacy rate which is at 64.32% in the district as per census 2011. Because of this relentless efforts and investment in education sector large number of boys and girls throughout the state are studying in different academic, technical &professional colleges and universities run by the government and private institutions.
District Anantnag has a distinct place on the educational map of the state.
